COURSE DESCRIPTION
Teacher Training Course: Basic Printmaking
Primary & Secondary Teachers
30th & 31st March from 10am – 2pm
Price: €85
SCHEDULE
Day 1
AM
o Overview of Collograph & Object techniques.
o Create your own Collograph plates, leave to dry overnight.
o Demonstration in Object Printing
o Create your own Object Prints - This involves inking up found objects and placing paper on top to take a print. You can ink and print many things if they are flat enough and resistant to ink like driftwood, lace, crushed tin, rubber gloves, bubble wrap. Organic materials like leaves and plant forms work particularly well. You can experiment with different objects. Group your objects together.

o Overview of Drypoint technique - using Styrofoam block and Perspex (best results for this process are achieved with a printing press).
o Demonstration
o Create your own Drypoint plates.
o Print plates – Inking, wiping and printing as well as registration and paper types will also be covered.
Day 2

o Printing of Collograph plates
o Overview of the process of Lino block printing
o Demonstration with one colour
o Prepare Lino block
o Print Lino block - Inking, wiping and printing as well as registration and paper types will also be covered.
o Demonstration of Lino block printing with 3 colours
o Plate & paper registration

o Overview on Monoprinting technique
o Demonstration
o Create your own – Monoprints. To make a a monoprint all you need is a nonabsorbant surface and some ink. Plexiglas seems to work best, but you can also use the following materials : Vinyl (Floor tiles/covering), acetate, glass, styrofoam or hardboard. When applying water based ink to the nonabsorbant surface you can work positively or negatively, both techniques will be covered.
Our workshops will give you practical ideas to help you improve your
classroom practice introducing teachers to basic printmaking techniques
including Collographs, Lino, Drypoint, Embossing, Monoprint, Cardboard
and Paper Prints. Inking, wiping and printing as well as registration
and paper types will also be covered and all materials are provided.
